Near Luray Va
Starting at the trailhead on Rt675 aka Camp Roosevelt Rd the hike to the Kennedy Peak Summit is 5.2 miles round trip with a total of 750 feet of elevation gain/loss for the journey. The hike itself is nothing too special given that there are no real nice sights to see until you reach the top. The trail itself is decent. It is well marked and the grade is gentle. I like to use the hike to the Fire tower spur as a training hike and try to do my best speed. The last 3/10th of a mile to the fire tower are slow and tedious but the reward is a fantastic 360 degree view.
